George H arvey B one is a com poser in early 20th cent ury London, who is un der stress because h e is writ ing a piano c oncerto. Due to t his stres s, he gets black outs when eve r he hears dis sonances. When he finds himse lf after th e black o ut in a differ ent quarter of the town, he ret urns home, t o read i n the pap er that somebody in th at quar ter was mu rdered. Aski ng help fr om a doctor at Scotland Yard he is assu red that he has nothing to do with it, but he is ad vised to c ut back in his work and get some r elaxation li ke other , ordinar y people. At a cheap mu sical he meet s Netta, a sing er, who inspi res him for a new motive fo r his c oncerto. Bu t Netta disc overs that this motive could also be used a s a song f or her. The song gets sold, and she hangs aro und George to get more son gs out o f him. Geor ge believes that Netta is in love with him, and gets i n an argument with hi s girlfri end Barbara, the dau ghter of Lor d Henry, who wan ts the con certo f or one o f his souares .
